Just flew into close up the house
Where Mom, Dad and I used to live
Mom got too sick to take care of herself
And Dad died in seventy-three
Now it's just the memories and me

I stand here surrounded by so many things
That mean nothing to no one but me
This old house that's known me since I was a kid
Remembers what time can't erase
And possesses what can't be replaced

Mr. Singer's machine, Dad's safety Gillette
Buttons saved in a Prince Albert can
A Sears radio, a Warm Morning stove
I miss summer nights on the porch
And the days of linoleum floors

An old faded tintype of Smokey and blue
And "Ready or not, here I come"
I've sat here for hours, just looking at junk
The day's gone and I've just begun

Like it or not it has fallen on me
To come here and pack up the past
So what do I throw out and what do I keep?
I need everything that I see
And, Dear God, it's killing me
